Hey everyone 👋🏻
Can I talk to you guys about life for a sec?
I had a conversation with my boyfriend this weekend about business stuff. It was in-depth, informative, and made me do a double take on everything I’ve been working on lately.
Recently I’ve debated switching careers, but remaining in the same industry. After having the business convo, I started considering just how much time, effort, and devotion I want to put into Made by Hand. If I go out for the other job I’m eyeing up, my crafting and blogging would have to take a far back burner. I have a lot of ambitious ideas and goals for this business, but I’ve always just considered them pipe dreams since this is a “side hustle”.
I poured out every major idea I’ve ever had to my boyfriend and he told me it didn’t sound unrealistic or ridiculous at all. They didn’t sound like pipe dreams, they sounded like a solid, 5-10 year business plan. Actually speaking my ideas out loud to another human being and hearing their opinion suddenly made them feel more real to me. I actually feel like I could do those things, and I would be so excited and happy to be doing them.
I’ve seen a lot of posts on here lately of makers quitting their day jobs to create full time. I always thought that seemed crazy and risky, but now I’m feeling the pull towards my creative hobbies stronger than ever.
I have a lot of thinking to do, but putting it out there to this beautiful community means a lot to me. Are any of you full time makers? Do you have a day job you love alongside your hobbies? I’d love to hear your stories! 💕
