Been so stoked lately on my biz. I know that's a weird thing to say because it's a choice to run a business but not everyday is 100% stoked out of my mind around here. And I know every business owner I know would agree. It's so much work. And so much hustle. And usually a lot of self doubt.
But everyday lately is just a huge influx of ideas, opportunities and support so it's hard to not lose sleep each night getting excited about possibilities but somehow I still spring out of bed in the morning to get the hard work done.
Thanks everyone for all your support. All your orders. And all your love. Keep clicking that link in my profile to send some sweet snail mail. 🙌🏼💌📫
Talking about the relationship we have with our bodies can be awkward and vulnerable. We get it, it can be scary. Here is the thing though, talking and processing is one of the greatest tools for change in ourselves! When we begin to use our OWN voice, those negative voices of doubt, shame and fear that live in our head become quieter.
The @she_movesmountains and @wildandweightless collaboration will create a supportive community where we will not only challenge ourselves through climbing, but also challenge ourselves to let go of the negative messages we have created about our bodies. We will celebrate our own bodies, and the bodies of all women, for we are incredible forces of nature--that come in all shapes and sizes.
This epic event happens Saturday, Oct. 7. The day will look like this: a full day of guided climbing, therapeutic discussion and guidance led by a Masters Level Clinician and Wellness Coach, as well as an organic dinner that we will share together in one of the most epic spots in all of the North West! Camping is also optional and included in the price. $175 for the day, to sign up visit the link in our bio. DM with any questions you might have! We can’t wait to spend the weekend with you!!!
You have two lives. The second one begins when you realize you only have one. This being said, only the lucky get to grow old. It's a little bit of smarts combined with a lot of luck, because life and death are completely random. So strive to be the best version of yourself, empower those around you, and tell your friends you love them. In other words, yolo 🤙💕
When coaching clients and IG friends become REAL LIFE friends!
This girl is one of my favorites. She started as a competition prep client, completely crushed her show, and spent many months working with me post-show. Along the way, we became virtual besties. Today, I got to hike with her (and her adorable daughter) on this gorgeous Colorado morning. (No filter needed because umm... have you SEEN Colorado?)
Social media can be an incredibly powerful tool. It allows us to "meet" people from all over the world and develop amazing relationships. I'm looking forward to meeting more of my clients and IG friends in the near future!
I have been on a bit of a personal journey lately. It's one of those journeys where you feel your world growing and expanding. I'm looking at things with new eyes and the beauty in the world is palpable. Yesterday I was listening to Melissa Griffin's podcast called Pursuit with Purpose. She was interviewing Deepak Chopra and she asked him "What do you think people can do to live more meaningful and fulfilled lives?" His answer floored me. I loved it so much! Here is what he said "You should write your story. What is your story? Every story has ups and downs and challenges. Ultimately the best stories are love stories, so write your own love story." . . . .
If you guys are interested in recommendations for other really amazing podcasts just let me know.
One of my new favorite hikes in West Texas is Madera Canyon in the Davis Mountains Preserve! ⛰ (Yes, my niece is hiking in a dress 👗) Read about this trail on the blog this week! 📲Highlights: insanely good views of the mountains, relatively easy terrain but still a great work out, and a great picnic area. 🍽
West New York!!! Check out this rad body positive hiking group!!
Inspiring Hiker: @amplemovement says, "In this group, ALL bodies are welcome. You will, however, notice that my emphasis in this group will be on people that have, what society deems as, 'wrong' or 'bad' bodies. There are people that live their lives in marginalized bodies. This could be any number of things: size, race, gender identity, religious views, disabilities or sexuality to name a few. This is for those people who feel like their bodies are bad. It is for those people who don't look like what society and media tell them they should look like. It is for people whose bodies hurt or don't 'work right' due to illness or injury; for people who 'look normal' but struggle everyday because of pain or mental health issues. It is for people who think their bodies are wrong. I'm here to tell you: there is nothing wrong with your body right now. You are beautiful; you are strong; you are worthy.
A lot of things that I write or share will be from a fat bodied person's perspective because that is the experience I have in my life in the community day to day. I hope that some of you can relate to that. I will also try to find perspectives of other marginalized people, especially in the outdoors, in hopes that there's a part of this that someone else in this group can connect to. We have so many spaces where thin, able-bodied people can go and feel welcome no matter what their experience level. This is especially for people who don't look like that. If you happen to be in a thin, able-bodied body, that's cool, we totally welcome you too but this might be a different type of group than you're used to. We need you as an ally.
So, this isn't a place where you have to fix yourself or, more specifically, fix your body. You're cool just like this. You're good how you look right now. You were good twenty pounds ago; you'll be good if you gain 20 pounds. You are absolutely worthy right now and I want you to know that and believe that. I, for one, will never seek intentional weight loss again. If you want to know more about how I came to this decision, I'm happy to share."
