I recently listened to this amazingly insightful podcast put together by the folks @fash_rev. The podcast encompasses interactions with garment factory workers, their struggles and showcases the depressing realities hidden behind the clothes that we wear- without really questioning who has made them. I encourage each of you to listen to it, the podcast is a real eye opener and I’m sure you’ll feel a little let down by your past choices- I definitely did. Whatever I say here may not make any difference to their lives but my choices can. The lack of transparency in the world of fast fashion is more dangerous than one can ever imagine, so make mindful choices. For those interested, the podcast link is in my bio.

The Garment Worker Diaries is a year-long research project focused on the lives and wages of 540 garment workers in Bangladesh, Cambodia, and India. 🇧🇩🇰🇭🇮🇳In Episode 2 of the #FashionRevolution podcast, Tamsin Blanchard speaks to Guy Stuart and Eric Noggle from Microfinance Opportunities, the lead project researchers, to unpack what the garment workers earn and buy, what their working and living conditions are like, and what sorts of things they do to get by on their very low income. We dig deep into the data to reveal just how much economic, workplace and home life stress the women face. 🗣Listen to the second episode in the 3-part series from Fashion Revolution: “Who Made My Clothes?” 👉www.fashionrevolution.org/podcast (link in bio)

🙌 the artisans and seamstresses behind @maisonvalentino ・・・#repost “This award is an important recognition to the value of the work of all the people that have contributed and presently contribute to the success of Maison Valentino and that allow me to continue to dream of new adventures. A Haute Couture Atelier in Piazza Mignanelli in Rome, is the example of what eco-sustainability means for me: the Italian tradition of the Bottega dell’Arte that is passed on to the new generations exploiting the dignity of handicraft and the uniqueness of the people". Creative Director #PierpaoloPiccioli said at the #GCFAItalia @GreenCarpetFashionAwards by @CameraModa in collaboration with @EcoAge

Meet the makers.
The Büyükasiks are an amazing atelier that we work with in Hatay. A true family business, their craft has been passed down the generations with both father, son and Uncle working together as master weavers using traditional wooden shuttle looms.
Their craftsmanship can be seen in our Kümsal peshtemals and soon to be launched Özlem and Bedia blankets.
It's Bedia in this picture - she is the matriarch of the family and nothing gets passed her keen eye for quality control.
Today is a good day for Bedia, she has just become a Grandma (or 'Nin-a' in Turkish) for the second time!
It's a privilege to work with families like theirs with a true passion for their craft and to know that we help support each other in our small businesses.
